Paris - Tour Eiffel, Musee d'Orsay

Today we visited the Eiffel tower (fun fact - you have to visit the Eiffel tower in Paris when you visit.  It's French law) and after the Musee d'Orsay.

Le Tour Eiffel

I'm not sure what I can write about the Eiffel Tower that hasn't been written before.  It's big.  It's steel.

Fun fact: the author Guy de Maupassant hated the tower so much he used to eat his lunch under it, as directly under the tower was the only place in Paris he couldn't *see* the tower itself.

A truly terrible photo of Erin and Shannon riding the subway this morning.

Click into this photo and check out her earrings :-)

Awesome views are to be had.

A place to kiss you say?  Well... don't mind if I do.

Erin minded.  She thinks kissing is gross.  But she's 10.

Pont-Aven gallettes staving off hunger and saving our Euros from the expensive food shops in the tower.

Like other Jeffersons before him, this one is movin' on up.  To Paris.

Musee d'Orsay

I took more photos of sculptures here as I feel that photos of paintings don't translate very well.  We spent quite a bit of time on the Impressionists.  Erin expressed appreciation for pointilism and my theory that Monet is the best of the Impressionists was reinforced (close second: Renoir).

We enjoyed a very nice walk along the Seine and enjoyed a temperate and mild Paris evening.

Peter and John, returning from finding the empty tomb.  Click in and see their expressions.  Great painting.

Subway ride home, complete with Eiffel tower souvenir.
